MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non invasive imaging technique that uses radio waves, a strong magnetic field, and a computer to provide clear and detailed pictures of internal organs and tissues without the use of radiation or radioactive substances of any kind. With incredible accuracy, MRI can detect many abnormalities which CT scanning and X-rays cannot, especially those involving soft tissue. In fact, MRI reduces the need for biopsies, exploratory surgery and other diagnostic procedures, which carry associated risks. MRI is a totally painless procedure with no known side effects.

At Urgent Care Imaging Center, we understand that each patient has different requirements when it comes to MRI exam, we therefore offer Open, Closed and Short bore MRIs. Open MRIs are specifically for the patients, who feel claustrophobic within closed MRI machines. An open MRI has more space, a shorter tube and all four sides within it are open, hence you are able to see your surroundings while you’re being seated/tested.

We have been performing MRI imaging in New Jersey for over 15 years with dedicated MRI radiologists who are experts in their respective fields.

 What happens during the Exam

MRIs exams are a breeze to go through. During the examination you will be adjusted within a machine by our qualified technician, to make sure you are comfortable during the exam. You will hear a repeated drum-like knocking sounds as the scan-recordings take place. You will be given the option to listen to music through your personal phone during your scan. If you are not into hearing music and drum sounds from the procedure do not impress you either, we can also provide you with hearing protection.

The only expectation we would have from you would be to lie still as that would enable us to take high quality images during the exam. The average scan takes 5 to 20 minutes – the complete procedure and out the door time would be about 30 to 45 minutes.
